The fiberglass partition system is an economical choice for wastewater treatment plants.

Most factories and wastewater treatment plants located on the outskirts of large cities require modernization of their equipment. The growing urban population is forcing factories to upgrade their facilities to accommodate the area’s growing population. As a result of the expansion of the treatment facilities, it was found that the existing contact chambers of most chlorine plants do not have a baffle system that would contribute to an even distribution of chlorine in each chamber. After the decision was made to install a new partition system, the main problems were low cost and the use of quality material.

Our company solved the company’s problems by developing a new separation system with rectangular pipes and elbows for two chlorine contact chambers. Materials considered for the project included: basalt fiber, stainless steel, in-situ concrete and concrete columns. However, the system became the obvious choice as it was a cheaper alternative and more resistant to corrosion.

“Chlorine is such a corrosive material,” the owner said. “The system we developed using baffles, pipes and angles was much more cost effective than any other alternative material.”

The project began in the spring of 2005 and was completed in the autumn of that year. “The owners were pleased with how quickly our technicians were able to install this system and they liked that the material was very environmentally friendly and easy to handle.”
